At the beginning of the 20th century, the knowledgeable Sauris writer Fulgenzio Schneider wrote: “there will be no more men bent over the loom to weave the cloth”. In fact, tradition has it that it was the men who dedicated themselves to the work of weaving, while the women cultivated, carded and spun the raw materials: hemp, wool and linen.
