A winter circular hike through the ancient villages, woods, and mountain huts of the Saurana valley, with a climb to the panoramic Mount Ruke and a return along traditional trails.

A circular hike to explore the many traditional rural trails of Saurana. From Sauris di Sotto, we’ll follow the trail that leads to the panoramic Mount Ruke, passing the Hinterseike and Velt mountain huts, gaining altitude through a beautiful, silent forest. From the panoramic balcony overlooking the lake, we’ll then follow the rounded mountain ridge to the meadows of Sauris di Sopra, with its splendid historic center where traditional buildings recall the past. We’ll return to Sauris di Sotto following the upper trail that passes through the clearings of the Hozach and Pront farmhouses, before descending to the lower hamlet near the ham factory.

– Hiking clothing suitable for the season (thermal layer + windbreaker/down jacket)
– Gloves and hat
– Hiking boots or shoes with good soles
– Backpack with water/hot drink, snacks, and a packed lunch
– Trekking poles (recommended)
– Lanterns provided by the organization
– Crampons available upon reservation in case of ice (€3 rental)
